The fire is a direct reminder of the impermanent nature of life and the dance of death and birth. It is the chaotic, dangerous nature of mother. Who gives life and who can take life away.

I received a vision of burn wood, which would be elevate as artwork, the way chinese gardens would elevate natural rocks as artefacts.

A few months later in 2022 a wildfire took place in the south west of France in a campsite, a pine forst completly devastated. I knew I had to go, it was a calling. The camp site was closed to vistors, afraid that people could get hurt going on site but it also show how our western society obesses with safetly put death and decay away from our sight but then not allowing us to process, grief and realised our impermanence and reconcile with the reality that life is uncertain and control is only an illusion.

I manage to get the authorisation to go on the camp site and record the damages of a wild fire. I brought my 2 years old son at the time who regarless of the destruction, expressed things so directly and with innocence and play on the child playground which was the only vestige that survive the fire because it due to health and safety reglementation it had to be fireproof.

The only tree which survive was a Phoenix Palm tree.

Below is a video installation:

I then collected some of the artifact that were left over: nature as the artist, I function as the curator. Below are photograph of an exhibition in Pilat showcasing the work.
